Title: Design Patterns Publisher: Addison-Wesley Professional Authors: Erich Gamma, Richard Helm, Ralph Johnson, John Vlissides Rating: 5/5 Great book, althoug it's not for beginners. You'll have to read some sections twice and study the code to understand it. It's more of an academic book because most projects don't allow sufficient time to do a proper design and implement design patterns (I wish they did). If you want to be a good OO Designer/Developer, this book is required.

Title: The Code Book: The Science of Secrecy from Ancient Egypt to Quantum Cryptography Publisher: Anchor Authors: SIMON SINGH Rating: 5/5 At the time of this review there have already been other 159, and all with 5 or 4 stars, so what else to say ?But I couldn't stop myself from writing some more compliments. While not being stuffed with math formulas, it's able to deliver deep understanding on the basis of chyper and coding. And there is even more, because the main focus isn't on the techniques, but on the history of coding, and I can assure you there is plenty of it. After all keeping secrets has always played an important role in our life, beeing them innocent paper messages on schooldesks or war-resolving "Enigma-encrypted" messages. So my advice is : if you were thinking about reading it, definitely do. And also if you weren't.......

Title: The Big Red Fez: How To Make Any Web Site Better Publisher: Free Press Authors: Seth Godin Rating: 3/5 I love everything that Seth Godin writes. So when I saw the availability of this e-book, I ordered it immediately. It's heartening to hear that it's a good book, but unfortunately I was never able to open it to judge for myself. I recommend that you take a pass, unless you're rich and adventurous and can afford the $$ and time required.

Title: An Introduction to Database Systems (Introduction to Database Systems) Publisher: Addison Wesley Longman Authors: C. J. Date Rating: 5/5 This book clearly explains how relational DB systems are designed and gives a solid foundation for you to do anything in the DBMS field! This is the best book I've found so far to cover this complex topic. I wish I hadn't wasted my time on other lesser books. I'd definetely recommend this to anybody that is serious about computers and databases!
