Title: Photoshop 7 Down & Dirty Tricks Publisher: New Riders Press Authors: Scott Kelby Rating: 5/5 Adobe is used to having a lot of books written on its products. They tend to be the most complex of any program on the market, but it is because they are so powerful. If you have got the Photoshop bug and can't make pretty changes to your pictures or projects, this is a good book to start with!!!Yes it will not teach you a lot of the "Why???" of Photoshop, that can take some years to learn anyway. A lot of Photoshop books come it two groups, those that know Photoshop and those who don't. Most of those that are for the expert expect you to know your Gaussian Blur from your Unsharp Mask and what kind of effect it will have on your picture. Photoshop "cookbooks" as some have called them teach by example, this author's "recipe's" are easy to follow and will give hints in the margins to learn more indepth or customize. Again you might be mimicing the author, but sometimes that is all you need to feel good about your investment in Photoshop. The CS (PS 8) book was a complete rewrite from the Photoshop 7 book, I own both because both have a lot to offer that was different enough to almost consider them volumes 1 & 2. Also if you are just needing digital photographry help, I would check out Scott Kelby's books on just digital photographry.

Title: PMP Exam Prep (4th Edition) Publisher: Rmc Pubns Inc Authors: Rita Mulcahy Rating: 5/5 The Best book you could possibly get for PMP Exam. Cost and Time are very well explained. Not to mention the others are as well. Rita knows what to learn and what not. You would be better of to learn (Not just read) this book and buy and use her 'FastTracks CDs' as well together. I passed PMP with very good scores.

Title: Essential System Administration, Third Edition Publisher: O'Reilly Authors: Æleen Frisch Rating: 5/5 It is very descriptive and well written and easy to read. I also have found here on Amazon training DVD "UNIX Essentials" that nobody knows about. It is very cool one, straight to the subject, very useful. I coupled this book with DVD and I believe I learned more then my friend who attended $2000 class. This book is good , but DVD is DVD, it is like you have class at home. This book is very useful though.

Title: Discovering Statistics Using SPSS for Windows : Advanced Techniques for Beginners (Introducing Statistical Methods series) Publisher: SAGE Publications Authors: Andy Field Rating: 5/5 The is the best SPSS book I have ever read, and I think I've read them all! It goes beyond the basic beginner's text, and yet I think new SPSS users, and new Stat students would also find this book understandable and useful. Field's explicit and well organized descriptions and explanations of the theory, methods, diagnostic steps, and interpretation of output for various statistical procedures are fantastic, and he has a wry sense of humor that reminds us that reasearch can actually be exciting and fun (honestly!). I know I will use this book for years to come, and will buy new editions as they are printed.
