Title: Don't Make Me Think: A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability Publisher: New Riders Press Authors: Steve Krug Rating: 5/5 I read J. Neilson's book on usability and valued his writings but Krug's book is my favorite. The pithy, often humerous writing style, the exceedingly 'usable' design of the book, and his sage advice make it a great addition to your library. It's short enough that every member of your web development team will find time to read it, and benefit from it.

Title: Microbiology: An Introduction, including Microbiology Place(TM) Website, Student Tutorial CD-ROM, and Bacteria ID CD-ROM (7th Edition) Publisher: Benjamin-Cummings Pub Co Authors: Gerard J. Tortora, Berdell R. Funke, Christine L. Case Rating: 5/5 Microbiology: An Introduction is a superb textbook! All the introductory microbiology materials are explained in remarkable details and simplicity. You can go through an entire chapter really quick. The figures that accompany the text are beautiful and very informative. I am glad that my professor chose this text for the microbiology course that I will be taking this fall. My friend, who took the course last year has the previous edition (6th) and a large amount of materials was updated by the authors when I compared the two editions. The two CD-ROMs that accompany the textbook are excellent. The Student Tutorial CD-ROM even has sound clips of a large number of micro-organism names that appear throughout the book, allowing you to hear the correct pronunciation. The problem sets that appear at the end of every chapter are very well made. All in all, this textbook is a very good reference for introductory microbiology. The only bad thing that I can see from the book is that there is no answer key for the problem sets at the end of each chapter. I don't think there is a solutions manual either.

Title: A+ Certification for Dummies Publisher: For Dummies Authors: Ron Gilster Rating: 1/5 This has got to be the runner-up for worst A+ book, if not grand champion of the worst A+ books. I just love this. In the chapter on serial/parallel ports the book says the maximum length of parallel cable is 15 feet. Throughout the book this is repeated. In the Core Exam at the end of the book this is question #28. The answer for #28 is 10 feet. The answer explains that some says 15 feet, but stick with 10 for the test. Do you think this will go over with the testmakers at COMPTIA? This book is a joke.

Rivest, Clifford Stein Rating: 4/5 I've had this book for over seven years. The best buy of a computer science book for me. It was great when I was a student and its still useful now that I'm a professional. Definetely a book that should be on your shelf.
