Title: PMP Certification for Dummies Publisher: For Dummies Authors: Peter Nathan, Gerald Everett Jones, Peter Nathan, Gerald Everett Jones Rating: 2/5 I bought this book to help facilitate a review course and found the practice exam at the back was loaded with mistakes on the formula-based questions. Not only typos, but just plain getting the concepts wrong (e.g., trying to calculate based on 1/2 of a standard deviation). I strongly recommend Rita Mulcahy's PMP Exam Prep instead: More expensive but very readable with good review questions. Another option is PMP Exam Cram 2, by David Frnacis and Greg Hornie.

Title: Writing Testbenches: Functional Verification of HDL Models, Second Edition Publisher: Springer Authors: Janick Bergeron Rating: 5/5 I found this books extremely well written in terms of technical content and style. Yes, style. The words are efficient and almost leap off the page to convey the author's intent. I enjoyed the discussion of VHDL versus Verilog in the very beginning. The methods presented for testing and verification are very insightful. Probably one of the best HDL books out there, period.

Title: The J2EE Tutorial Publisher: Addison-Wesley Professional Authors: Stephanie Bodoff, Dale Green, Kim Haase, Eric Jendrock, Monica Pawlan, Beth Stearns Rating: 1/5 Many times in the reading of this book I'd find myself lost in the discussion. Then I'd realize why. While trying to explain one concept, they'd be referring to other concepts which have not yet been discussed. For example, in the JSP section (chapter 12), in trying to explain expression language, functions, etc, they kept referring to taglibs, tld's, etc, as though the reader should have a firm grip on these things. But they're not discussed until chapter 15 - Custom Tags. This was just the last straw which prompted my to write this review. But the book is full of this stuff. Also, there's no explanation anywhere of the syntax of the descriptor files such as web.xml. They simply tell you how to use deploytool to set it all up. Bottom line, if you're going to use this book to learn J2EE, you better have a separate reference library handy to clarify things. Good luck to you.

Title: Security+ Exam Cram 2 (Exam Cram SYO-101) Publisher: Que Authors: Kirk Hausman, Diane Barrett, Martin Weiss, Ed Tittel Rating: 5/5 I was impressed with the organization of the information. I loved the extensive examples of practice items. The 2 practice exams at the end of the book are right on the mark! Great job by the authors and the editors. My advice: Do not take the S+ exam without going thru this book!
