Why can't programmers write?

The language, PERL, is hideously syntactically challenged. This book doesn't shed one ray of light on the language.

Easy to use scripts, but doesn't teach you Javascript

This book presents some Javascript basic concepts and offers code for some of Javascripts most common uses such as rollovers, cycling banners, and detecting browser plug-ins, etc. These are easy to use even for a beginner such as myself. The disappointment with this book is that it does not really teach you how to write your own Javascripts. This book is designed for those who want to quickly enliven their pages by using some of the scripts presented.

A complete REFERENCE

If you are looking for an introduciton to JSP or servlets, this is not the book for you to use. This book is a solid reference to Java servlets and JSP. It is one of the first books that I reach for when I have something nagging at the corner of my mind but can't quite bring it to focus.
It is not a book which I suggest reading cover to cover. You won't get as much out of it. Find the chapters or sections on the topics you are looking for and read those to get the knowledge you need and then set it aside until the next time you need it.
The section of JSP tag libraries is especially useful for developers working on bridging the gap between the look & feel people on the front end and the business logic on the back end.

Great Starter

Great place to start learning about DW. The author builds the concepts layer upon layer. Very easy to follow the progression. Once you'e finished this book, then move on to Ralph's Lifecycle Toolkit for some nitty-gritty examples and much more about building data marts into datawarehouses.
