Worst book I ever bought

What can I say, I learned more about Active Directory from a scripting book than I did this one. The author beat around the bush and never seemed to get to the point. Too much fluff and not enough "need-to-know" information. Currently reading the Thomson Learning MCSE Active Directory book, and its much better, although still not perfect. Even if you are looking for a reference, this isn't it. Maybe the Active Directory Cookbook?

this is for host programers

This is a good book if you are a host programmer and need to kow the dirty details of USB. But if you are looking for a practical circuit and a practical GUI you are not going to get it. Most devices takes care of the protocol within the hardware designed in the device so we really dont need to know all of the details that this book covers. If you plan on using USB for a hobby project and need quick, easy examples to get started that are specific to lets say a PIC dont buy this book. But if you need to know how USB works but dont want to read the boaring USB spec buy this book.

Good for Newbies

I am new to Oracle. This book really helped me understand everything that I needed to know to get started using Oracle 9i quicker and easier than on-line instruction that I had tried or other books. Don't think that this book will help with the Oracle SQL certification since the coverage on SQL is very brief, but it will help you get get started actually using 9i very quickly.

A worthwhile effort to read

I can only warn you of this book: It might give you a nervous breakdown if you are a spiritual person. The sickly intelligent author has a devilish and almost violent joy in convincing you that you don't have a soul, that your mind and self is a product of the complexity of your brain, and that is the ideology that pours out of every sentence in this book! He believes so strongly that everything can be objectified and symbolized that he kind of neglects his very own existence ...The thrill is: you have to hand it to him: he's real logical! It took me some time to get over it, but I felt he was wrong... and he is wrong, but it's not easy to put in words, because words are just words. No matter how you try to cover up the truth... someday it will prevail, because it IS! What traumatic experience made this author so loveless, cynical and blind?
