Title: Interpreting the CMMI: A Process Improvement Approach
Publisher: Auerbach Publications
Authors: Margaret K. Kulpa, Kent A. Johnson
Rating: 5/5

Not just a re-hash of the CMMI

I am a university professor and am often asked to review books dealing with technical subjects. I enjoyed reading this book because the authors present their points cogently and offer step-by-step approaches toward resolving business issues. I also found the statistical process control, metrics, and higher maturity chapters to be interesting and entertaining. The authors take the reader through several different techniques that can be found in organizations, summarize each, and then demonstrate which methods they find to be the most often used, and most easily understood. While I am not a process improvement specialist, I feel that anyone who is assigned these duties could benefit from this book. This is not just another re-hash of the CMMI.

Great HTML Book

This book was fantastic. Before I got this book, I was slowly gaining HTML knowledge by painfully searching through AOL's information sections. When I found this book in the bookstore, I realized it was the best thing that could ever happen to me! I learned quickly and I eventually improved my pathetic website to a fairly well designed site with the help of this book. It's comprehensible for us non-programmers, too!

Title: Developing Bioinformatics Computer Skills
Publisher: O'Reilly
Authors: Cynthia Gibas, Per Jambeck
Rating: 5/5
Customer opinion - 5 stars out of 5
A wonderful resource

Biologists, computer scientists, and mathematicians will all find this book useful in linking their various fields together. No, it doesn't cover all the skills and resources necessary to do useful bioinformatics, and it's not intended to. Instead, it offers a sound and very readable introduction to the major aspects of the field and then tells the interested reader where to find out more about each aspect. If you are a student of bioinformatics and/or a working biologist or programmer who wants to move into bioinformatics, this book is essential.

Title: Programming Microsoft Windows Ce .Net, Third Edition
Publisher: Microsoft Press
Authors: Douglas Boling
Rating: 4/5
Customer opinion - 4 stars out of 5
Good material for the buck, could be more compact and more

The previous reviewer is confused between CE.NET and .NET (which is understandable). This book is about CE.NET the operating system (aka Windows CE 4.x), and not .NET or the .NET Compact Framework, the later which is available on CE.NET.
This is another excellent book from Boling, and is an essential reference for anyone working on CE.NET.
Blame Microsoft, not the author for the very poor marketing terminology used for Windows CE 4.x.
