No trouble with Excel

I find the text and software a useful set of tools. It assumes familiarity with basic statistics and Excel, and builds on them to develop a powerfull ability to analize data and make decisions from it. I experienced no trouble with the software install or operation.

Fast-pace Book : - )

I have read pretty much every book that the RI CLAN library system has on java and general computer programming and I have never seen a better book on java developement. It taught me almost everything I know about java, and I have read every almost edition. Although I regret that this version does not have as much coverage of threads, awt interfaces, or applets as the 2nd edition, it has better coverage of OOP and I finally figured out how to get the jdk command line tools to work! This book is perfect for anyone of beginner or intermediate knowlege of Java, or it will teach you java and OOP from scratch! Also good to buy as a desk refrence for all those difficult functions.

Great tutorial approach, examples and exercises

This book was assigned for a college perl course and I found it wonderful. Its tutorial approach was very effective to learning the language quickly. It was also very funny which also helped. There are exercises at the end of every section with answers in the back, so you can check yourself to see if you're really learning.

Excellent Guide Worth Owning

While this book has got good intentions, it somehow fails to live up to the reviews that I have read of it. There are literally thousands of websites listed in the book, with a brief statement of what the website is about.
As a Canadian, I found this book lacking. If you are looking for American websites or information on American businesses or people, then this book will suit your needs.
The book's format does not lend itself to easy reading. It is basically just listings of sites by category. The pages are packed full and hard to read. The author has been extremely thorough in his listing of websites, but I just didn't find that it helped me out.
