Title: Windows XP For Dummies, 2nd Edition
Publisher: For Dummies
Authors: Andy Rathbone
Rating: 4/5
Customer opinion - 4 stars out of 5
Learn the Basics

This is the book for you if you are new to Windows. Covers most Windows functions and shows you where they are in Windows XP as well as introducing new Windows features. Very Basic in that it covers things such as Copy and Paste, etc. Limited in explainations about how to change things, customize, etc..
For me this was not the correct book, being experienced in all previous Windows and Mac operating systems. However, for a splash start, you can't do better than the "Dummies" books with excellent writing style, simple procedures with pictures.

Title: The Compleat Guide to Day Trading Stocks
Publisher: McGraw-Hill
Authors: Jake Bernstein
Rating: 1/5
Customer opinion - 1 stars out of 5
Save your Money

Here is another example of a good Commodities writer attempting to write about Day Trading Stocks. No only does he fail in this attempt but he has the nerve to criticize other writers. It is clear from the time periods of the charts (ten minuets) and the lack of discussion of NASDAQ level 2 that Jake is way out of his field. When will the pure commodity writers learn not to try and cash in on the interest in stocks? Fools rush in. Save your money.I returned the book.

Title: The Applied Microsoft .NET Framework Programming in C# Collection
Publisher: Microsoft Press
Authors: Jeffrey Richter

A well written reference

This book is a must have for any serious .NET developer. It covers the essentials, e.g. .NET runtime, how virtual methods are called, inheritance, indexers, interfaces, string manipulations, events, value and reference types and their representation in IL, IL itself, and Reflection. Everything is explained in-depth. This is _not_ another cheesy "Learn C# in 20 hours" brochure but a well written reference.

This is THE standard book for Servlets and JSPs!

I am a very enthusiastic reader of this book. It is written in a clear precise style and covers all information that you need to know about developing in a server-neutral way. While reading you always feel that the author has excellent knowledge and experience! A very important companion in my daily work!
