A Peach of a Book

Not knowing one thing about HTML and how to make a Web Page, I ordered three books on the subjects. After receiving this book along with the two others, I immediately donated the other two books to the local library. For a beginner this book is great with its clear definitions, examples, and tab pages that makes it easy to find the subject your looking for, along with a good index. Included in this book are the hexadecimal table for background colors, tables for symbols, and HTML tags. The only drawback in this book are the small sized examples of the HTML and browser pages. I recommend this book for anyone just starting to work with HTML and web pages.

Dear Doug, ...

Sorry, Doug, I have not read your book; it looks very good, very thorough and very entertaining, but I have not read it.
Your book sits by my feet and gets picked up half a dozen or more times a day when I go straight to the index, pick out the particular issue I'm having as I struggle to learn XSLT on a crash course to production code, then it's straight to that one or two paragraphs that precisely answers my question and *zoom*, back it goes to the floor. Like Larry Wall's Perl (still unread after 4 1/2 years), I'm reading XSLT in random-access, a bit here, back over there, scoot to the back here ... it's going to take me years to read the whole thing, but I suspect it's very good.

Another Great Book!

Bruce and Barbara have written another fantastic book. Not only do they give you solid recommendations on components, but they clearly explain their reasoning and why they feel it is the best choice. They are not scared to discuss any potential downfalls of current technologies and they give you a preview of what to expect in the future. Additionally, their website provides constant updates on new product releases which still make this book a valuable reference for years to come.

This is the bible for serious C++ programmers

I remember having had a hard time reading the previous edition of this book. I was pleased to see that the author greatly improved his writing style, making the information more easy to grab at first reading, though being more thorough and detailed. This book is definitely fun to read for the intermediate or experienced C++ programmer. For a beginner, it still may not be the easiest way to learn C++, I would rather recommend Lippman's C++ Primer. But anyway, this book is definitely a must. Thank you Bjarne !
