Title: C++ for Dummies (4th Edition, Completely Revised)
Publisher: For Dummies
Authors: Stephen Randy Davis
Rating: 4/5
Customer opinion - 4 stars out of 5
Great for beginners

Until recently my programming experience was limited to the early 80's with Apple Basic (on the II) and Atari Basic (on the 400). I have a good command of logic, but knew nothing of syntax.
I found this book helpful with learning the syntax of C++. It does present ideas VERY slowly, and assumes the reader has a basic understanding of C.
If you have minimal experience with C, and are not looking for an in depth study of C++, this may be the book for you.
If, however, you are looking for good reference for serious programming, you will need to look elsewhere.

Publisher: Wrox
Authors: Paul Wilton
Rating: 3/5
Customer opinion - 3 stars out of 5
Book confuses the issues and doesn't get to the syntax

Instead of defining all the attributes of say "Request.QueryString" into differenct contexts like Javascript <var> and HTML <input value=>, he muddles around with <Server-Side Scripting with ASP> probably the lamest web application environment around.

A global generation

The book defines the "Gamer Generation" real well, in a way that makes anyone who have interacted with any member of this generation will automatically relate to the book. Born and raised in a different culture, and traveled and lived in many countries, I can tell you that this book have identified a generation that exists all around the world. Many companies now have to go globally, either for resources or markets, hence a clearer awareness of such existing generation is extremly helpful. Thanks for offering such insight on this global generation.

You need to pass the PMP? BUY THIS BOOK!

Perhaps the best book on the market for passing the PMP exam, bar none! This book is also a keeper for those project management professionals who may be in need of reference material on project management basics. Most books are worthless once you pass the exam. Not so with Crowe's. He has listed tons of valuable project management references in his book, which one can use to further their knowledge in the profession. This book is one of those "two for the price of one". Not only is it essential to have while studying for the PMP, but it is also a real front runner "go to" book for those in the field of project management.
