Title: Essential ActionScript 2.0
Publisher: O'Reilly
Authors: Colin Moock
Rating: 4/5
Customer opinion - 4 stars out of 5
Great introduction to OOP

-This book provides a great introduction to OOP concepts, design patterns, coding styles and other techniques that are vital in producing quality applications.

-This book will be used mostly as a learning tool, and not so much as a reference tool.

-I am working on developing some applications but nothing too complex at the moment. If you are looking for a book to develop simple applications, or just a want a reference guide to flashMX objects and components DONT buy this book. But, if you are however developing more complex applications that need to be upscaled later, are connected to external datasources etc BUY this book. It will give you examples of best practices and ways of solving your application development questions. Another plus comes in the fact that it is based on ActionScript 2.0, so you will be coding with the most up to date, highest performance and capability available today.

Title: Access 2000 Developer's Handbook Volume 1: Desktop Edition
Publisher: Sybex Inc
Authors: Paul Litwin, Ken Getz, Mike Gilbert
Rating: 2/5
Customer opinion - 2 stars out of 5
The Getz and Litwin franchise is looking a little tired.

I have the Access 97 version of this book and thought it was time to upgrade - I needn't have bothered. 95% of this book is the same as the earlier edition. Apart from a very basic chapter on ADO there was little to distinguish this book from the 97 developers handbook. In fact a there are parts of the book that talk about "cool new features" that were introduced in Access 95! If you don't have an earlier edition of this book, and you are a hardcore developer, then it's an essential purchase - otherwise try the volume 2 enterprise edition. Maybe it contains all the "cool new features".

Title: CCIE Routing and Switching Exam Certification Guide
Publisher: Cisco Press
Authors: A. Anthony Bruno, Anthony Bruno
Rating: 1/5
Customer opinion - 1 stars out of 5
I waited more than a year for this book

I had no problem with the format of the book as a tool to review the information; however, the review all applies to an old version of the test. This book has little to no value as a tool to review the current version of the CCIE written examination. It was a major waste of money.
