Title: A+ Certification for Dummies Publisher: For Dummies Authors: Ron Gilster Rating: 3/5 This was the first A+ book I bought. I read it several times...learned it by heart. Then I took a few of the commerical practice tests included on the CD-ROM and realized I knew very little. With a week before my test I bought a second book and read it. Between the two books I passed the test and I'm certified. This book was a great book to start out with but I recommend getting a second once you're done with this one. The book does focus a lot of test taking skills which is very valuable. Buy this book plus another and you'll get your A+ Certification. Good luck. I recommend the A+ book from Osborne publishing as an addition to this, but don't skip right into the Osborne book.

Title: Teach Yourself VISUALLY Photoshop Elements 2.0 Publisher: Visual Authors: Mike Wooldridge Rating: 5/5 It is the first time I spend the time writing a review for a book on amazon. I decided to do it for TYV Photoshop Elements because of its excellent quality. I tried a few other Photoshop books before and couldn't go further than page 30 because text is definitely not adequate to teach you how to use a software dedicated to imaging. This book is just perfect for beginners like me who want to understand how the various functionalities of the software can be used to realize what they want. You get a double page per function, very clear and precise, easy to read and to understand. Along with this one, I bought The Hidden Power of Photoshop Elements 2 (that I have not started yet) to get into the hairy details...

Title: Windows NT Shell Scripting Publisher: Pearson Education Authors: Timothy Hill Rating: 5/5 A well thought and well written book. The first 2/3's contain examples and descriptions of the commands and how to build basic and complex scripts. The last 1/3 contains an alphabetical listing and indepth explanation/options for each command. This is also an excellent book for someone who is just getting into scripting. A prior knowledge of DOS or NT command shell functionality would be helpful, but not absolutely necessary. This book will be referenced frequently!

Title: The C++ Programming Language (Special 3rd Edition) Publisher: Addison-Wesley Professional Authors: Bjarne Stroustrup Rating: 1/5 This book is, in my opinion, one of the best written technical books, period. It covers not just the syntax of C++, but the reasoning behind the the language. The style of the sample code (and there is a lot of sample code) is a model for readability. Also, the book contains many exercises, and include a rating for their difficulty.
