Don't use it alone, but a GREAT reference!

I'm the author of the PMP Study Guide and I'm thrilled to see all your reviews about how helpful my book has been! Thank you! Good news--there is a new, second edition to the PMP Study Guide that has an expanded glossary, more exam hints, more notes, and deeper explanations of some of the tougher topics. There is also a companion guide, The PMP Final Exam Review, that has four more tests with some killer questions. Getting the PMP certification is definitely worth your while but you can't pass the test without some good resources (and I think mine are some of the best). Good luck to all you future PMPs out there!

A must read for anyone tasked with backup and recovery

If you are setting up a new backup and recovery environment, or if you are maintaining an existing strategy, this book is a must read. Not only does it walk you through backup and recovery process from start to finish, it helps you to understand that there is more required to backup - and especially recovery - than simply performing daily backups.

Title: FrontPage 2000 for Dummies

A great book if you want to STAY a dummy.

Whenever I have a new software to learn, I go buy the "dummies" title to get me up to speed. Sadly, I'll be returning this title and looking for something more informative.
Although this book does teach you how to use FrontPage in the most basic possible way, it does not cover some very fundamental topics. For one thing, the author recommends using readymade (albeit customize-able) "themes" to design your site, with little information on how to format if you're NOT using a theme. The author also neglects to mention that using a theme will create a huge folder of theme graphics in your web, whether your site uses those graphics or not. So you can double or triple your upload time.
This example is emblematic of many problems with the book. I'm not a sophisticated computer user, and when I'm first learning a software, I count on the "dummies" titles to answer my novice questions. When I have questions that go unanswered, something's wrong.
This might be a good book for the individual user who wants to fool around with the software and perhaps design a personal web page. But if you're looking for the skills you need to design a professional looking site, look elsewhere.

Great Programming Book for new programmers and VB students

I had to buy a copy...for my Visual Basic I online class in college. It's an online class so all the work is done on your own and this book is awesome.
The book takes you step-by-step from designing, planning, and coding VB programs. It walks you through every stage of creating a program. Textbook is very detailed and accurate.
There are tons of follow up questions at the end of each tutorial and there are plenty of programming exercises at the end of each tutorial as well.
I plan on buying Intro to C++ by Diane Zak to study on my own and any other books she writes that I might be interested in as well. I would recommend any books by Diane Zak. I strongly recommend any of her titles.
