great book

Dan has written a geat book for the Lightwave 8 user. The quick-start chapter is a great idea and will have everyone up and running in an hour or so. The writing style is easy to understand and conveys the information eloquently. Each chapter, there are 21, is <,= to 50 pages so you could read a chapter a day and in 3 weeks have a very thorough understanding of L8, and 3D in general. The DVD contains scene files and a few hours of tutorials that are also very helpful. Recommended

Good, insightful for the computer literate and illiterate

I have owned several PCs, I recently bought an iMac, and pretty much for the most part knew what to do, but I always knew Macs could do more, and be more friendly to use. This book helped perfectly with some basic problems I faced as well as answer some more higher end questions I had. This book will help the computer literate person who need a quick reference for any questions you have, or if you are buying your first computer, this book will make using it easier and more enjoyable.

Awesome book!

Excellent! This book covers all major versions of UNIX and then some.
The tips and tricks are easy to use and very pertinent.
Installing the software from the CD was a breeze! By far the best collection of freeware for UNIX I have ever seen.
The book was very well written. Those with some moderate UNIX experience will get the most out of this book.
A must have for any serious UNIX buff.
