Title: eBay Secrets : How to create Internet auction listings that make 30% more money while selling every item you list
Authors: Steven Ellis White, Bryon Krug
Rating: 5/5
Customer opinion - 5 stars out of 5
Concisely Written w/Common Sense and the Average Joe in mind

I am only through the first half of this book, and I can say that I am impressed at how much of the nuances of Ebay Selling I have picked up already.

I am an accomplished Ebay'er. I have been buying and selling for years (since Ebay opened really). I have used Andale and Mr. Lister and AuctionPro to list various items for sale from my personal collections as well as from a couple of my hobbies which net me items to sell.

This book really dives in to the attention to detail that is so essential to a successful EBay Auction Ad. Yes, as other reviewers have written, some of the information is counter-intuitive, and yes, there is an element of risk in the Bid Multiplier Method (you could list an item for $1 and end up selling it for $1, or God Forbid, a significant percentage less than you expected)

But by and large, the auction profits you should realize from these methods could more than make up for the occassional anamaly.

The information is presented in an easy-to-understand format, reinforces the basics of selling on Ebay, and furthers your knowledge by offering some Intermediate and Advanced techniques that should help you realize a greater percentage of your auctions selling with higher prices.

A worthwhile read!

Title: Fundamentals of Database Systems, Fourth Edition

For the mathematically inclined ONLY

This was our textbook for intro to databases (3rd year class). I don't think I learned a thing from it... If you have a really great mathematical mind and you think in terms of sets and relations then it might be your thing. I now have a decent practical understanding of databases but every time I go back to this text as a reference it still makes no sense at all.

It is pretty complete... but it is highly unlikely you could actually learn anything from it.

Best "Add-On" Guide I've Ever Bought

If you're reading this most likely you've bought these types of guides before and been underwhelmed (mostly). It's not that they aren't a little bit helpful, you just wonder why they didn't include that extra stuff in the manual rather than make you shell out 15-20 bucks again for it. Now many games cost $55 and don't even have a printed manual (thank you Microsoft.)

Well, World of Warcraft (fabulous game - get it) does have a very good manual -- it's just that the game is so deep and so full of detail, there really needed to be a book like this.

And the book is huge, colorful and full of quality. The paper is nice and shiny, the inks are perfect and there are tons of illustrations. I took it to work to show a friend and he was blown away.

I would usually qualify those types of people who would need this book and who wouldn't but in this case I can't think of a single kind of player who wouldn't get at least something out of this book.

From maps of all the lands, interviews with developers, interviews and tips from beta testers, pages on each race and class, top ten lists, charts charts and more charts, essays on good conduct -- it really goes on and on.

The typeface, though, is EXTREMELY small. Those with eye problems might have a bit of a strain. Frankly if this book had a normal typesize it would easily have filled 800 pages. As it is it is over 400.

If Amazon let me I would give it a 4.5 star rating because I felt a few things were a bit underexplained and frankly it is a bit confusing for a pure beginner as many terms are mentioned as important without telling you exactly how to do something. I find myself constantly flipping back and forth trying to figure some things out.

So, if you need a step by step -- this ain't it and it really isn't out there anywhere else even online. If you are somewhat comfortable with the genre the guide is immensely helpful.

The more expensive version even comes with online updates you can download in PDFs. Not that is cool!

If you play World of Warcraft you should get this. Period.
