Aimed at beginners to Visual Basic

I found this to be an excellent book for beginners to Visual Basic. As the title states, this book takes you "step by step" through all aspects of Visual Basic .NET. It assumes no prior programming experience with Visual Basic. The book was designed with a variety of skill levels in mind so that new programmers can learn software development fundamentals using real world applications and experienced Visual Basic programmers can quickly master the essential tools and programming techniques offered in the new Visual Basic .NET version.
The book starts off slowly by showing the reader how to create their first simple Visual Basic .NET program. This helps to build confidence and quickly familiarize the reader with the Visual Basic environment. The book is well organized and divided into various parts, such as, creating the user interface, database programming, internet programming, object oriented programming, and more. Each of these parts is clearly presented with plenty of sample code and screen shots.
I highly recommend this book to all beginners to Visual Basic.

This book gets daily use.

I use this book on a daily basis to check on syntax and feature specifications. It gets pulled off my shelf at least 5 times a day. It is well indexed and contains many small snippets of code that mirror common real-life utilization, along with a very short lesson on normalization. The hardcover binding holds up quite well too given the size of the book and it lays open/flat quite nicely.

How Computers Work

This interesting guide showed me how microchips, software, memory, and hardware all work together in my computer with detailed (but easy-to-follow) explanations and full-color illustrations.
Of course, there is one problem with this book: it doesn't include the very latest information on recent developments in Internet technologies, multimedia sound and video, Pentium III processors, DVD drives, digital cameras, cable modems....
But i think that it was worth to buy this book and i'm waiting for next editions.

Good for newbies

This is the type of servlet reference I have been trying to get a hold of for a long time and it is easy to by books that don't really have the type of content you are looking for. I write servlets on a daily basis as part of my job and most of the time,I need just enough reference to get me going in the right direction. This is an excellent resource to have and most of all, it pretty good reading and will get you started on e-commerce type servlet application development. Yep - this is another excellent OReilly book. Good job Jason Hunt.
