Title: eBay Secrets : How to create Internet auction listings that make 30% more money while selling every item you list
Publisher:
Authors: Steven Ellis White, Bryon Krug
Rating: 4/5
Customer opinion - 4 stars out of 5
Good book but left out some important information

This book had some valuable information. I learned the best times to start auctions, how to research completed listings.. that was very valuable. But they suggested to have your opening bid as low as possible to attract bidders and cover your costs in the shipping charges... be wary of doing this. Ebay has cancelled my listings for doing this stating that I was trying to charge excessive shipping to get out of paying ebay fees.. the author should have mentioned this. I suppose that it could work very well if you're selling something you already own and you don't have to worry about covering your costs. But be careful if you are trying to start a resale business on ebay.

Title: Business Intelligence Roadmap: The Complete Project Lifecycle for Decision-Support Applications
Publisher: Addison-Wesley Professional
Authors: Larissa T. Moss, Shaku Atre
Rating: 5/5
Customer opinion - 5 stars out of 5
Very useful

This is an excellent book and, more importantly, it's very useful. It's loaded with specifics and checklists on what to do and how to do it (it also tells you what not to do). It lays out the pitfalls and tells you how to avoid them. The stages and steps outlined in the book are very specific and the authors, with their wealth of experience, tell you how to implement a successful data warehouse. The work breakdown structure (the tasks you need to implement the data warehouse), the deliverables matrix, and entry and exit criteria for each step are very detailed and alone are worth the price of the book.
The book will give those responsible for a data warehouse the information they need to establish best practices within their own organization and will give these folks the ammunition and support to ask for the necessary resources to implement a data warehouse.

Title: The Adobe Illustrator CS Wow! Book (Wow!)
Publisher: Peachpit Press
Authors: Sharon Steuer
Rating: 4/5
Customer opinion - 4 stars out of 5
Content is Wow!, PeachPit Press quality is ow!

(7-Jan-04)Update to Original Review:
I received a replacement after the original began to fallapart after only 30 minutes. My overall rating remains aa four, because the binding still is not of high quality.Amazon (of course) gets high marks for great customerservice, and timely deliver of a new copy.
The contents of the book are VERY good, which seems wellsuited for my purposes of gaining creative technique andinsight to use Illustrator more productively.
While the binding on the replacement is better thanthe first, it still is not of high quality. PeachPit needs
to improve their quality.
Though I would hate to rate the book any lower than a four, because it's contents are so good. It's too bad thatthe poor quality of PeachPit is effecting this otherwisewonderful (and nearly perfect) book.
-----------------------------------------------------(28-Dec-03)Let me start by stating that I am giving two ratings.
The first rating is for the contents, which seem to be VERY good.
However, that is based on only 1 hour of "browsing" through the book. It looks very useful, and similar to the Photoshop Wow book, which I also find to be very good.
Now, for the "other" rating. Perhaps it was because I was one of the first to receive this book, having pre-ordered it two weeks before it shipped. However, the binding was VERY poor quality. It began to fall apart upon the first opening of the book. After only 30 minutes, I was afraid the entire book would become unbound, and fall completely apart.
I am now returning it to Amazon, for replacement. I'll update this posting when I see the quality of the replacement book.
If the quality is good, I may even go up to 5 stars. If it isn't good, it will likely go to 2 or fewer stars. We'll see...
